NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the General District Courtroom, second floor, Edwin R. Shields Courthouse Addition, Chatham, Virginia, on the following ZONING matters:
Case R-19-033 – Requested by Brenda B. Reagan and Mark Winston Stevens, to rezone properties located on U.S. Highway 360/Old Richmond Road, in the Dan River Election District and shown on the Tax Map as part of GPIN#s 2462-05-1070 and 2462-04-6844. The applicants are requesting to rezone 0.028 acre (part of 2462-05-1079, part of 0.58 acre) from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural District, and 0.062 acre (part of 2462-04-6844, part of 15.00 acres) from A-1, Agricultural District to R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to combine with the adjacent parcels of land zoned A-1 and R-1. Once the properties are rezoned to A-1 and R-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Sections 35-178 and 35-222 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
Case R-19-034 – Requested by John Wayne Lewis and Mona C. Lewis, to rezone property located on State Road 655/Tom Fork Road, in the Dan River Election District and shown on the Tax Map as GPIN# 2347-73-2891. The applicants are requesting to rezone 0.32 acre from B-2, Business District, General, to RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, to allow for placement of a single-wide mobile home on the property. Once the property is rezoned to RC-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-267 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, B-1, Business District, Limited, B-2, Business District, General, MHP, Residential Manufactured Housing Park District, RMF, Residential Multi-Family District, and M-1, Industrial District, Light Industry, uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.
During the Public Hearing, concerns from interested citizens supporting or opposing these matters will be solicited. The applications are on file and can be viewed in the Pittsylvania County Community Development Office, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
