The Town Of Gretna announced that they will be closing town hall to walk-in traffic, effective March 18 until further notice.
This is to "minimize the risk of exposure to and spreading of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)."
Town Manager David Lilly said that all essential services, including water, sewer, garbage, brush pickup, police, and more, will continue uninterrupted.
Town payments can be made through a number of additional options, including through envelopes provided on town hall's front door and placed in the slot on the front door. The name on the account needs to be listed on the envelope, and a receipt will be emailed.
From 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., citizens can also call the town hall office at (434) 656-6572 to make a payment by credit or debit card. A receipt will be mailed out.
In addition, payments can be made online through the town's website at www.townofgretna.org. The account number and name on the account will be needed to make a payment through this method. The system will provide an online receipt. The account number can be found on bills, or citizens may call town hall to look it up for them.
If citizens need other information other than making a payment, they are asked to call town hall at (434) 656-6572 and the town will work to make accommodations.
"We apologize for any inconvenience our citizens experience because of the pandemic, and as always, we appreciate your cooperation, understanding, and the continuing opportunity to serve you," Lilly said.
