A navy blue sedan with a single passenger onboard crashed into a residence on the 12000 block of Rockford School Road around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Damage to the home is minimal and the residents are unharmed.

The car suffered severe damage, and the driver was escorted to the hospital in an emergency vehicle.

The homeowner, Michael Reynolds, has lived in that house for 38 years, he said.

"I was sitting on my deck in the back, and my wife was sitting in the living room right there when I heard something," Reynolds said.

The sedan wove between two trees and came to rest on the front porch of Reynolds' house.

"[The driver] begged me not to call," Reynolds said. "But I had to."

Update: 07/01/20 at 3:45 p.m.

The driver, Robert E. Withers, III, 69, of Gretna, was transported to Centra Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt. Charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
