The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning, Aug. 11, in the 8000 block of West Gretna Road.
According to sheriff's office Captain Corey Webb, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 11, the sheriff’s office received a call to respond to the 8000 block of West Gretna Road in reference to a subject that had been shot.
Once on scene, deputies found the victim laying on the side of the road bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound.
Shortly after, Michael Randolph Vaughan, 60, of Chatham, was arrested at the scene and charged with felonious assault.
The victim, whose name is not being released, was airlifted to Carilion in Roanoke and is listed in stable condition.
Vaughn is being held without bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail.
