The scene of a wreck where a 96-year-old man had to be rescued after being trapped in an overturned truck. 

UDPATE 5:46 p.m.: The man has been airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, but is in stable condition. 

Original: A 96-year-old man is being treated on a scene of a car accident on Climax Road where a truck ran off the side of the road and flipped into a field. 

According to a witness, the car was going "pretty fast" down the road when he lost control due to the gravel on the road, which she said had just been laid down that morning. 

The Gretna Rescue Squad and the Climax Fire Department responded to the scene, where the man needed to be extricated from the truck which had landed on its side. 

According to the man's son, the man lives just north of where the wreck occurred. 

The extent of the man's injuries is at this point undetermined.
