The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office and the Pittsylvania County Fire Marshal are investigating an explosion in the 600 block of Buford Road in the Bachelors Hall area of Pittsylvania County.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the Pittsylvania County 911 communications center received a call for service in reference to a possible explosion, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Bachelors Hall Fire Department responded to 605 Buford Road in Pittsylvania County. Upon arrival, the fire department found a shop building on fire with a male fatality victim on the ground near the structure. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office, the name of the victim will be released once they have received official identification from the medical examiners office.
