Jessie Jones, 43, of Danville

Danville police have arrested a man for robbery following an incident Thursday, Aug. 15 inside the Mount Cross Road Walmart.

An arrest warrant obtained from Danville General District Court Friday states police responded to Walmart for a report of a robbery in the bathroom.

According to police, Jessie Monroe Jones, 43, of Danville, allegedly assaulted a 79-year-old inside the store before taking his wallet.

Witnesses on scene got the tag number of the suspect vehicle and turned it into police.

"I watched the video from the suspect entering and exiting the Wal Mart {sic} bathroom. Once he exited, he jogged away. The vehicle was tracked to the registered owner's address," the warrant, sworn out by Corporal C.B. Morris, states.

Once police were on scene, Jones ran out of the back door of the residence before being arrested and taken to the police department the warrant states.

"...he stated he was high on drugs and could not talk," the warrant states.

The victim was transported from the scene with minor injuries.

Jones was charged with probation violation and robbery according to police.

He is being held in the Danville City Jail without bond.

Jones is set to appear in Danville General District Court Monday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m. for attorney advisement.
