May 16: The Virginia Department of Health is reporting that Pittsylvania County's COVID-19 case total has risen to 22, four more cases in the last 24 hours. 

In Danville, the number is now 44, one more than on Friday's count.

Hospitalizations in the region have increased to 22. 

In Virginia, there are now 29,683 cases. 3,724 people have been hospitalized with the virus and 1,002 people have died with the virus. 

184,118 PCR tests have been performed in Virginia since the beginning of the pandemic. The current percent of tests that return positive is 15.1 percent.
