Danville Police Department patrol officers developed information Wednesday night, Aug. 7 on a possible location for Rakim La’Tae Knight, 29, of Danville.
Knight developed as a suspect in the shooting death of Kymon Haley of Milton, North Carolina Friday, Aug. 2 according to police. Knight was into custody at a residence in Danville without incident.
Police say Knight is being held in the Danville City Jail without bond. He is charged with willfully discharging firearms in public places resulting in bodily injury, and use or display of firearm in committing felony.
Police were dispatched to a call for a person who had been shot in the 200 block of Parker Rd. on Aug. 2 at 11:20 p.m.
Officers located a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds lying on the ground outside.
He was taken to the emergency room by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased a short while later.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Kymon Haley of Milton, NC.
The information known to Danville Police at the time of the initial press release was the victim and suspect knew one another and an ongoing dispute escalated into a shooting incident.
Knight was identified as the suspect according to police.
