A Thursday afternoon shooting at Dollar General on South Boston Rd. in Danville is under investigation by the Danville Police Department.

Danville Police responded to 1307 S. Boston Rd. at approximately 3:45pm for a subject who had been shot.

Police say one person was transported from the scene with gunshot wounds to the lower part of their body.

Initial information indicated that this was not a random act and the victim and suspect likely knew one another.

As a result of the investigation, a warrant was obtained for Matthew Dustin Moore age 30, also of Danville.  The warrant was for malicious wounding.

Moore was still at large at the time of a police press release. He may be operating a red 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck with VA tag VDK-4277.  The vehicle is described as having heavy front-end damage.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Investigators are asking the public to be on the lookout for a red 2000’s Chevrolet pickup that left the scene.
