After five weeks of searching for Zachary Pruitt since he went missing in Chatham, his body was found yesterday, according to the AWARE Foundation.
"It is with great sadness we must inform the public that Zachary Pruitt's remains were found yesterday," the Foundation said in a statement.
Pruitt was last seen in the Tightsqueeze area July 29. It was later discovered that he did not have his wallet or cell phone with him when he disappeared.
"His remains are with the state medical examiner," the Foundation continued. "At this time the family has more questions than they do answers. The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone that helped and supported them during the recovery effort. Please respect their privacy at this time and continue to pray for answers. We continue to ask if anyone has any information to please contact Crime Stoppers at 800-791-0044."
