Coronavirus update

May 22: The Virginia Department of Health is now reporting a new coronavirus death in Danville, making it the second in the city and the third in the Pittsylvania-Danville Health District. 

Additionally, there is one new case in both Pittsylvania County and Danville, bringing the totals to 27 and 46, respectively. 

Hospitalizations in the local health district have risen by one to 24. 

In Virginia, 34,950 people have the virus, 4,145 people have been hospitalized with the virus and 1,136 people have died with the virus. 

The percent positivity rate has increased slightly to 14.7 percent. 223,433 tests have been performed in Virginia.
