Danville Utilities has scheduled a planned power outage for the White Oak substation at 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, to allow for preventative maintenance of a transformer. The outage is expected to last less than one hour.

Nearly 3,500 customers in the Mount Hermon area will lose power while the substation is de-energized, the transformer maintenance performed, and the substation re-energized.

The National Weather Service forecasts moderate temperatures overnight, with temperatures around 60 degrees.

Danville Utilities provides natural gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications services in Danville and distributes electricity to approximately 42,000 customer locations in a 500-square-mile service territory covering Danville, the southern third of Pittsylvania County, and small portions of Henry and Halifax counties.
