Jason Scott Rigney

A Pittsylvania County Circuit Court jury found Jason Scott Rigney guilty of first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony Tuesday, March 12.

The guilty verdict comes after the jury found there was enough evidence to convict Rigney in the death of Heather Matherly Bernard.

The jury recommended a life sentence plus three years.

Bernard was shot and killed on Sep. 22, 2018 and her body discovered the following day.
