A search warrant obtained Friday, Sept. 13 indicates the victim from an early morning shooting Wednesday, Sept. 11, was shot in the back at least once.
The victim was identified as Tevin Deshea Grasty according to the warrant.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Captain Corey Webb said in a statement Wednesday that Grasty suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The warrant also states the residence at 1000 Lawless Creek Road, Lot 15 was struck numerous times by gun fire in addition to vehicles parked in front of the residence.
The vehicles, a white Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Volkswagon Passat, were identified as belonging to Grasty and his girlfriend according to the warrant. The girlfriend was not identified in the warrant.
“There were several cartridge casing[s] consisting of what appears to be .223 caliber and 9mm caliber casings located in the driveway. There is a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence as well,” the warrant states.
The warrant, sworn out by Pittsylvania County Investigator A.S. Rouse, indicates bullets, projectiles, cartridges and cartridge casings, firearms, gun shot residue, marijuana and other substances, blood, fingerprints, shoe prints, and cell phones were to be searched for.
Only bullet fragments were seized according to the warrant.
