Update 8:51 a.m.: The driver of the overturned truck has been rescued by volunteers from the Blairs Fire and Rescue Department.

His rescue involved two tow trucks, several volunteers and the removal of the top of the truck’s cab. 

He is being transferred to Sovah Health in Danville with serious injuries. 

Original: An overturned logging truck at the intersection of Dry Fork Road and Snakepath Road has blocked Southbound Highway 29 completely and reduced Northbound to one lane. Fire and EMS volunteers are currently working to extricate the driver, who is pinned by the truck.

Officials at the scene confirmed the driver has serious injuries. An ambulance is prepared to take him once he has been extricated from the truck.

Logs have spilled onto the road. The truck is upside down in the northbound ditch. Two towing trucks are being used to lift the wrecked truck off the ground.
