A Danville man has died following a traffic crash that occurred Sunday, Nov. 3 on U.S. 29 near Livestock Road in Blairs. 

According to Virginia State Police First Sergeant B. Long, Michael Angelo Price, 55, was traveling southbound in a 1990 Ford Taurus when he crossed the center line and struck a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. 

First Sergeant Long said Price was wearing his seatbelt, and died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the Silverado, Alvin Weatherford Jr., was transported to SOVAH Health with what appeared to be minor injuries according to First Sergeant Long. Weatherford was also wearing his seatbelt. 

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. Sunday. 

The Virginia State Police Reconstruction Team was called to the scene, and the Blairs Fire Department assisted. 

VDOT rerouted northbound traffic while police investigated the crash, and the southbound lanes were reduced to one lane. 

This is the 12th fatal traffic crash of 2019 in Pittsylvania County.
