The Board of Zoning Appeals by a vote of 6-1 approved a special use permit for Hope Center Ministries on Mountain Run Road in the Cascade community.  Leon Griffith was the lone vote against the permit. He also noted he lives in the Cascade community.

Over 50 people from Pittsylvania County, Danville, and Martinsville spoke in support and against the facility.

As a condition of the special use permit, the facility will be limited to 16 residents excluding staff, install a security system, have no signage along the roadway, and be in compliance with all county building, health, and inspection codes.
