Mr. Ed Lord Witcher, Sr., 85 of 1515 Pittsville Road, Gretna, Virginia departed this life on Saturday night, February 2, 2019 at his residence.

Born January 4, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Ben Witcher and Myrtle Pannell Witcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Inetta Barbour.

Mr. Witcher was self-employed as a logger and was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Vernell Witcher of the residence; three sons, Otis Oakes (Gail) of Hurt, Virginia, Ed Lord Witcher, Jr. (Diane) of Gretna, Virginia and Shaun Witcher (LaKeisha) of Fort Knox, Kentucky; one stepson, George Witcher of Gretna, Virginia; one daughter, Susan Payne (George) of Gretna, Virginia; one sister, Jackie Witcher-Younger of Chatham, Virginia; one brother, Cecil Witcher of Pittsville, Virginia; a devoted nephew, Russell Witcher (Yvette) of Burlington, North Carolina and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life for Mr. Witcher will be conducted on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Walter J. Coles, officiating and Rev. Floyd O. Jones, eulogist. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Miller Funeral Home from 4 p.m. -7 p.m. with the family being present from 6 p.m. -7 p.m.
