James “Jim” Dudley Witcher, 70, of Kilmarnock formerly of Gretna died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Commonwealth Senior Living at Kilmarnock.
Born September 16, 1948 in Rocky Mount, he was a son of the late Dudley Witcher and Sarah Martha Perry Witcher. Mr. Witcher was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and was an Army Veteran of Vietnam. Jim worked many jobs, he ran Jim’s Fix It Shop, he was an electronic technician with WVEC TV 13 in Hampton, he worked for a contractor for NASA in Hampton, and in 1980 he moved to Gretna to start his tree farm. He enjoyed spending time with his friends.
He is survived by one brother, Richard Earl Witcher of Newport News; one sister, Rachel Sue Shaffer and husband, Gregory of Gloucester; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Kyle Uselton. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 followed in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
