Clarence Dormond Bryant, III

Clarence Dormond Bryant, III, 66, of Blairs, Va. passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at his home. He was born May 17, 1953 in Danville, Va. to the late Dorothy Heath Bryant and Clarence D. Bryant, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Clarence D. Bryant, IV.

Clarence was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy in 1971 and went on to attend Danville Community College, where he graduated with a degree in business in 1973 and was a member and elder of Spring Garden Community Church. He served as a board member of The Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Concerned Friends. He was also on the Board of Economic Development for Pittsylvania County and on the Board of Directors of Virginia Tobacco Trust Certification, Virginia Tobacco Commission, and Virginia Bright Flue-Cured Tobacco Board. Clarence had farmed and raised tobacco his entire adult life.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Gatewood Bryant of the home; sister, Donna Bryant Hayes of Danville, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Molly French of Charlotte, N.C., Heather Barrow of Fort Mill, S.C., Robert Hayes of Tyler, Texas, H.L. Gatewood, III of Danville, Va., and Randy Gatewood of Chatham, Va.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Spring Garden Community Church with Rev. Clark Crowder and Rev. Terry Bryant officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends other times at the home.
