Linda Stuart Martin Winstead, 87, of Danville, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Roman Eagle Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the last survivor of her generation.

She was born on August 31, 1932, in Danville, Va., to William Spurgeon Martin and Lois Carter Hatchett.

Mrs. Winstead was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sibling. In addition, she was a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church Also she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was a Circle leader, and was President of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her children Clark Winstead (Karen) Carolyn Winstead Bagley (Will), Philip Winstead, and Charles Winstead, all of Danville, Va.; and Ellen Winstead Gould (Dave), of Nashville, Tenn.;13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winstead was predeceased by her husband, Therit Winstead; grandson, Adam Winstead; and siblings, James Jefferson Martin "Jolly Jim," Peggy Ann Martin, and William Martin, Jr.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Hannah officiating. Interment followed in Highland Burial Park.
