May Elliott Neville Pickeral, 95, of Gretna died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born May 31, 1924 in Guilford County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Neville and Mary Pearl Craddock Neville. She was predeceased by her husband, Early Moncess Pickeral; one brother, Herman Neville; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Dalton. Mrs. Pickeral was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where she loved to attend when she was able. She was a homemaker; and she loved cooking, canning, sewing and working in the garden. May was a hard worker and enjoyed working with cows, horses, pulling tobacco, and getting up firewood.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty P. Hiatt and husband, Butch of Gretna; three sons, Earl Pickeral and wife, Gloria of Sunrise Beach, Mo., Stanley Pickeral of Union Hall, and Roger Pickeral and wife, Denice of Cameron, Mo.; two brothers, Clinton Neville of Sellersburg, Ind., and Quinton “Bud” Neville and wife, Margarette of Gore Springs, Miss; one sister, Ida “Sis” Irvine of N.C.; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild due in August.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at Midway Baptist Church and other times at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Butch Hiatt, 2052 East Gretna Road, Gretna, Va 24557.
