Mary Neal Dalton

Mary Neal Dalton, 97, of Gretna, departed this life Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Mary was born November 14, 1921 in Pittsylvania County. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie D. Dalton; a son, Elton Dalton; a grandson, Clyde Dalton, Jr.; a granddaughter, Robin Riggenbach; a great-grandson, John Stuart Burnette; a great-granddaughter, Teresa Dalton; four brothers and five sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Madeline Dalton. Mrs. Dalton was very active in life, she was a member of Sheva Church of Christ, the Red Hat Society, and Fairview Home Demonstration Club. For years she was a choir member, taught Sunday school and was always involved in church activities. Her main goal in life was helping others. Mrs. Dalton retired from Pannill Knitting Company and the Pittsylvania County School System.

Mary is survived by four sons; Paul Dalton, Clyde Dalton, Acie Dalton (Jane), and Timothy Dalton (Wanda); two daughters, Effie Davis (Donald) and Lillian Davidson (Carroll); one sister, Margaret Lefebvre, two special nieces, Gail Held and Frances Crews, and sister-in-law, Lucille Perkins; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Ron Voss, Minister and Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial followed in Gretna Burial Park.

Per her request there was no visitation at the funeral home. The family was at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Carroll Davidson, 111 Highland Road, Gretna.

The family gives a deep appreciation to the staff of Gretna Health and Rehab for their loving care for the past 5 years.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity.
