Chatham High School’s Lady Cavaliers remain undefeated in the district. Chatham vanquished three district opponents last week. Chatham won at Appomattox 39-37. The Lady Cavaliers trailed by seven points 31-24 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Lady Cavaliers used intensity to overcome the deficit and eke out the victory. Quanadra Tunstall had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals. Senior Tori Roark had nine points and five steals. Charity Wilson scored eight points and had a game high 14 steals. Nysheia Miller had eight points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Chatham won at William Campbell 63-24. Quanadra Tunstall had a double, double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Nysheia Miller had 20 points and five assists. Charity Wilson had 15 points, eight steals and six rebounds.
The Lady Cavaliers beat Altavista 46-28 in front of the home crowd. Nysheia Miller had 18 points, and seven rebounds. Quanadra Tunstall had 18 points and eight rebounds. Charity Wilson had seven points and six steals. Kierra Price contributed two points and Keslee Hylton helped secure victory with six rebounds. The team is 11-3 overall, and 5-0 in district play.
Chatham High School’s varsity basketball team won two of three games last week. The Cavaliers beat Appomattox 66-52, beat William Campbell 48-30, and lost to Altavista 58-56.
The junior varsity basketball team won all three of their games last week. Terrell Fitzgerald and Kendell “Prime Time” Sanders had 17 points apiece in Chatham’s 66-33 win over Appomattox. Jonavan Coles scored 11 points, Jacob Haymore scored five points, and Ethan Chivvis scored four points in the game.
The junior varsity basketball team’s encore performance following the Appomattox win was a 66-24 win over William Campbell. Chatham’s defense kept the Generals off balance for most of the game.
The Cavaliers had 33 steals. Terrell Fitzgerald had 21 points, six rebounds, eight steals, and two assists. Kendell “Prime Time” Sanders had a double, double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Jonavan Coles had six points, dished out five dimes, and had four steals. Alex Owen ruled the paint with nine rebounds, and three points. Jacob Haymore made a couple three pointers. J.T. Brown and Koryan Payne scored four points apiece.
The junior varsity team won at Altavista 66-37. Jonavan Coles had 19 points and five rebounds. Terrell Fitzgerald had 17 points and four assists. The junior varsity’s average margin of victory last week was 31.5 points.
