Chatham High School’s wrestling team opened the season last Saturday at Hargrave Military Academy.  

The Cavaliers participated in a nine team tournament with Oak Hill Academy, Hargrave, Chatham, George Washington- Danville, Randolph-Henry, Virginia Episcopal School, and three other teams.

Alex Holley was tournament runner-up in the 170-pound weight class.

Grayson Haskins placed third in the 160-pound weight class.

Tyler Medlin placed third in the 106-pound weight class.

Colin Lester placed fourth in the 132-pound weight class.

The Lady Cavaliers varsity basketball team lost to Patrick County 63-54.  The Cougars have a good team with a great deal of height in their line-up.

Charity Wilson had 22 points, eight rebounds, and five steals.  

Nysheia Miller had 13 points and three steals. Quanadra Tunstall had 13 points, and nine rebounds.

The Lady Cavaliers defeated George Washington, Danville 53-41.

Quanadra Tunstall had a double, double with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Charity Wilson had 14 points, seven rebounds and six steals.

Nysheia Miller had 10 points and four assists.

The Lady Cavaliers are 2-1 this season.

The junior varsity girls’ basketball team defeated George Washington 29-23.

Tiyara Fitzgerald scored 14 points.  Duchess Rodgers scored 10 points.

The junior varsity boys’ basketball team won the first game of the season by defeating Patrick County 48-44.  Jonovan Coles had 20 points, five rebounds, four steals, and five assists. 

Terrell Fitzgerald had 17 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist.  Kendall “Prime Time” Sanders had seven points, three rebounds, and seven steals.  Matthew Johnson had four rebounds and six steals.
