Chatham High School’s varsity volleyball team defeated Altavista in five sets.  The Cavaliers lost set one and set three, and won sets two, four, and five.  Jahna Waters had two aces, 22 digs, and 16 assists.  Katie Moore had three aces, 14 digs, and 10 assists.  Hannah Goins had 14 digs, two kills, and a block.  Macy Calhoun had 10 kills, Sage Crider had nine kills, and Keslee Hylton had six kills.  Defensive specialists Abigail Giles and Taylor Lester combined for 21 digs.  The team showed great resolve and determination.  The relentless Chatham defense kept Altavista’s shots from hitting the deck.  

The Cavalier volleyball teams will play Gretna and Dan River this week.


The golf team competed in Region 2A tournament at the Homestead on September 30, 2019.  The team finished fifth in a field of 13 teams.  Matt Arnold (87), Dixon Erwin (87), Grant Reynolds (101), and Cody Snow (107) shot the scores that counted for the Cavaliers.

Cross Country

Caleb Wright competed in the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, N.C. last weekend.  Wright placed 19th of 1,750 runners.  Wright set a new school record with a tie of 16:09.
