NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION

The Pittsylvania County Planning Commission will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the Board Meeting Room, 39 Bank Street, Chatham, Virginia, on the following ZONING matters:

Case R-22-008 - Requested by Robert and Barbie Eanes, to rezone property located on State Road 718/Snakepath Road, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 2434-10-4406. The applicants are requesting to rezone 7.41 acres, from RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, allow for two dwellings to be placed on the property. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-22-009 - Requested by Ronnie Warren, to rezone property located on State Road 622/Cascade Road, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 1358-08-7268. The applicant is requesting to rezone a total of 2.91 acres, from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to allow for an accessory structure to be placed without a dwelling on the property. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Medium to High Density Residential uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-22-015 - Requested by Bradley and Shannon Mceowen, to rezone property located on State Road 57/Halifax Road, in the Banister Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as part of GPIN #s 2456-0198 and 2456-31-5275. The applicants are requesting to rezone 34.9 acres, from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to allow for agricultural uses. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-383 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case S-22-005 - Requested by Louise Morrison, for a Special Use Permit for the placement of a doublewide mobile home in accordance with Pittsylvania County Code § 35-223. The property is 1.0 acres, located on State Road 685/Telegraph Road in the Banister Election District and shown on the Tap Maps as GPIN # 2550-84-5062. The Comprehensive Plan indicates that the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case S-22-007 - Requested by Sally Norcutt, for a Special Use Permit for the placement of a singlewide mobile home in accordance with Pittsylvania County Code § 35-223. The property is 3.28 acres, located on State Road 691/Motley Road in the Banister Election District and shown on the Tap Maps as GPIN # 2446-09-9440. The Comprehensive Plan indicates that the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case S-22-008 - Requested by Green Genie, Inc., for a Special Use Permit for a Recreational Use (ATV Trails). The property 322.85 acres, located on State Road 686/Elkhorn Road, in the Banister Election District and shown on the Tap Map as GPIN #s 2486-41-1819, 2486-26-0293, and 2486-05-3039. The Comprehensive Plan indicates that the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

During the Public Hearing, concerns from interested citizens supporting or opposing these matters will be solicited. The applications are on file and can be viewed in the Pittsylvania County Community Development Office, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
