NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room, 39 Bank Street, Chatham, Virginia, on the following ZONING matters:

Case R-21-007 – Requested by Cornerstone Church of Christ, to rezone property located off State Road 703/Fairview N, in the Banister Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 2436-01-4731. The applicant is requesting to rezone 1.74 acres, from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District to combine with adjacent parcels of land zoned A-1. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-21-008 – Requested by Gregory and Janie Robinson, to rezone property located on State Road 750/Oxford Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 1580-34-0963. The applicant is requesting to rezone 24.72 acres, from A-1, Agricultural District, and R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District to allow a second dwelling to be constructed on the property. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-21-009 – Requested by Haile Gatewood, Jr., to rezone property located on U.S. Highway 29, in the Chatham-Blairs Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN #s 2423-43-3369 and part of 2423-43-1617. The applicant is requesting to rezone a total of 1.20 acres, from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District to combine with an adjacent parcel of land zoned A-1. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-21-010 – Requested by Mark Redd, as contract purchaser, to rezone property located off State Road 685/Chalk Level Road, in the Banister Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as part of GPIN # 2437-88-5351. The applicant is requesting to rezone 0.118 acres, from A-1, Agricultural District to R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to combine with an adjacent parcel of land zoned R-1. Once the property is rezoned to R-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-222 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-21-011 – Requested by Jeremy and Julia Watson, to rezone property located on State Road 665/Rockford School Road, in the Staunton River Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN # 2524-91-4600. The applicant is requesting to rezone 44.30 acres, from RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District to A-1, Agricultural District, to all for agricultural uses, livestock. Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Agricultural and Rural Residential. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case R-21-012 – Requested by Gentry Farms, LLC, to rezone property located of State Road 734/Clarks Mill Road, in the Dan River Election District and shown on the Tax Maps as GPIN #s 2346-89-0267 and 2346-99-5750. The applicant is requesting to rezone at total of 56.13 acres, from R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, to A-1, Agricultural District, to allow for agricultural use (livestock) and recreational use (event venue). Once the property is rezoned to A-1, all uses listed under Pittsylvania County Code Section 35-178 are a Permitted Use. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for Medium to High Density Residential. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

During the public hearing, concerns from interested citizens supporting or opposing these matters will be solicited. The applications are on file and can be viewed in the Pittsylvania County Community Development Office, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
