PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS

The Pittsylvania County Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Community Center, Chatham, Virginia, on the following ZONING matters:

Case S-20-018 - Requested by Stewart Lynn Adkins and Debra Wingfield Adkins, for a Special Use Permit for a recreational facility and ATV trails. The property is 151.93 acres, located on State Road 809/Columbus Road, in the Callands-Gretna Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Map as GPIN# 1459-49-8514. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, and RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

Case S-20-019 - Requested by Axton Solar, LLC, for a Special Use Permit for a utility scale solar energy facility. The properties are sixteen (16) parcels of land, a total of 1,359.74 acres, located on State Road 612/Medical Center Road, State Road 614/Sandy River Road, State Road 615/Taylor Road, State Road 616/Mosco Road, State Road 934/Maple Springs Drive, and on State Road 954/Plantation Drive, in the Tunstall Election District and shown on the Pittsylvania County Tax Map as GPIN#s 1441-36-6607 (177.62 acres), 1431-81-4115 (55.40 acres), 1431-96-7114 (35.15 acres), 1431-97-8417 (52.00 acres), 1441-08-9109 (59.00 acres), 1441-16-1326 (43.79 acres), 1430-57-7323 (13.29 acres), 1430-64-0182 (70.59 acres), 1430-68-5445 (18.11 acres), 1441-69-7402 (40.12 acres), 1441-89-3730 (124.13 acres), 1442-60-5423 (8.71 acres), 1442-82-0370 (315.00 acres), 1430-65-5210 (37.52 acres), 1430-84-7909 (201.03 acres), and 1430-97-7607 (108.28 acres). The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area is suitable for A-1, Agricultural District, R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, RC-1, Residential Combined Subdivision District, and B-2, Business District, General, uses. Zoning conditions and Ordinance standards shall control the density of allowable development.

During the Public Hearing, concerns from interested citizens supporting or opposing these matters will be solicited. The applications are on file and can be viewed in the Pittsylvania County Community Development Office, 53 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
