Virginia is now averaging over 2,000 unique, newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases per day for the first time since the disease has been identified.
The Virginia Department of Health Friday reported 2,544 new cases, increasing the commonwealth's average to 2,010 new cases per day—an increase of over 50 percent in the past two weeks.
The Pittsylvania-Danville Health district today also surpassed 3,000 total cases.
The death toll in Danville-Pittsylvania stands at 68 of the commonwealth's 3,912 total deaths.
Health officials statewide have also confirmed 213,331 COVID-19 cases and hospitalized 13,914.
