The Blairs Fire and Rescue Department responded to a reported barn fire located at 200 Allen Ct. in Blairs at 8:15 p.m. last night.

Upon arrival, units found a tobacco barn with heavy fire showing from the gables and around the roof line.

Crews pulled attack lines and were able to bring the fire under control quickly.

The tobacco was a total loss and the barn received moderate damage. Loses were estimated at $20,000.00.

Cause of the fire was determined to be the tobacco that had fallen on one of the burners being used to cure the tobacco.

Blairs responded with two engines, two tankers, an ambulance and one command vehicle along with 16 personnel.

Mt. Hermon Fire and Kentuck Fire assisted with a tanker as well.

No injuries were reported and units were on scene for approximately an hour and a half.
