DANVILLE, Va. — Rescue squads are seeking five people in the Riverbend area of Pittsylvania County. 

Shortly before 5 p.m. this afternoon, authorities in Virginia received reports of a boat that had capsized in the Dan River. Nine people were on board. At this time, only four people can be accounted for. 

Danville Life Saving Crew Special Ops, Riverbend Volunteer Fire Department, Hurt Volunteer Fire Department, Cool Branch Volunteer Fire Department, Blairs Volunteer Fire Department, Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Pelham (N.C.)  Fire Department and others are on scene.

Rescue personnel say the boat went over a dam in Rockingham County, North Carolina, before capsizing.
