Virginia State Police arrested 69-year-old Danny Slayton Tuesday on charges of farming marijuana and selling marijuana by the pound while possessing firearms and other weapons.
Virginia State Police Division II aviation unit sent a helicopter over Slayton's Henry's Mill Road property in Halifax County, right over the Pittsylvania County line in Vernon Hill Tuesday.
Slayton reportedly tried to mow over his marijuana plants with a tractor in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted Virginia State Police and South Boston Police with obtaining warrants to search Slayton's property.
Police seized hundreds of pounds of marijuana and hundreds of marijuana plants, opioid pills, 38 firearms and dynamite from the property.
The combined value of the marijuana plants and processed marijuana is $650,000.
Police also found $564,731 in cash stuffed in barrels.
A Virginia State Police Bomb Unit assisted the search by defusing the dynamite and dynamite caps, SoVaNow reported.
