George Washington High School principal Jay Lancaster confirmed in an email to faculty and staff Tuesday night that the victims from Keeling’s triple homicide were the wife, child, and mother-in-law of Tampa Bay Rays Double-A player Blake Bivens.
“The latter two are the wife and child of GW alum and current Tampa Bay Rays baseball prospect Blake Bivens,” Lancaster wrote.
Bivens is also a graduate of George Washington High School.
The Montgomery Biscuits released a statement Tuesday evening following a doubleheader being cancelled in lieu of the triple homicide. Lou Dibella, Biscuits CEO and Managing Owner said:
“Earlier today, we learned that one of our players, Blake Bivens, suffered unimaginable loss. First and foremost, the Biscuits thoughts and prayers are with Blake and all those who have been impacted by this tragedy. We appreciate the outpouring of support and concern, but ask that you respect the privacy of the family during this difficult time.”
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has not released the names of the victims.
