Virginia State Police Trooper B.J. Hylton is investigating a two vehicle, head-on crash, which resulted in a fatality.
The crash occurred Tuesday, March 30, at 2:47 p.m. on Honey Road, three tenths of a mile south of Golf Club Road in Pittsylvania County.
A 2011 Mazda CX-9 was traveling south on Honey Road driving left of center, when the vehicle struck a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt head-on.
The Mazda was driven by Amanda G. Lewis, 40, of Danville. Lewis was wearing her seatbelt and was transported to SOVA Health in Danville for injuries received in the crash.
A 6-year-old female was securely fastened in her car seat, and was also injured and transported to SOVA Health for non-life threatening injuries.
The Chevrolet was driven by Linda Larue Carter, 56, of Danville.
Carter was wearing her seatbelt and was transported to SOVA Health in Danville, where she later died.
Charges are pending.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
