Danville Sheriff's Office badge

"You'll notice the courthouse where most of our work occurs, the bridge, river, HOME sign, water tower, and a smokestack. Of course, it also features the Virginia and United States flags," Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul said.

A Danville man died after being found without a pulse in a holding cell in the Danville jail.

Anthony Lee Wyatt, 37, was brought to the jail at 2:44 p.m. on Nov. 22 after being arrested for public intoxication, and was housed in the holding cell, according to a release from Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul.

A control room supervisor noticed that Wyatt was lying on the floor and appeared to not be moving.

The supervisor called for deputies to check on Wyatt and they found he did not have a pulse. The deputies began CPR and emergency rescue personnel were notified.

Deputies and a member of the Sheriff's Office medical staff continued working on Wyatt until the Danville Life Saving Crew arrived. Rescue and jail personnel worked together to revive Wyatt and were able to get a pulse.

He was transported to the hospital by the Life Saving Crew where he was eventually pronounced dead.

The Danville Police Department is investigating the incident in accordance with jail procedure, according to Mondul.
