The Pittsylvania County Treasurer would like citizens to know that due to an error from the company that prints the tax bills, many Pittsylvania County citizens received tax bills with incorrect due dates such as June 2020 or Dec. 2019.
The company is paying to have updated bills with the correct due date of Dec. 10 sent to every citizen who received an incorrect one.
If citizens receive what appears to be a duplicate bill, it is just a replacement that includes the actual due date, which is Dec. 10, 2020.
Fall bills for real estate and personal property taxes, as well as the solid waste fee, can be paid in one of several ways.
Payments can be made online with a debit or credit card. Citizens can pay online at https://keyweb.pittgov.net/BillPay/.
To pay by credit card, call toll free 1-800-2PAY-TAX (800-272-9829). For telephone payments, enter your jurisdiction code (6216) when prompted.
Citizens can mail their check to P.O. Box 230 Chatham, VA 24531
Payments can be dropped off in one of the two dropboxes located outside the courthouse, one of which is on the wall before the security entrance into the building and the other is in the parking lot behind the building.
Payments can also be made in person with cash, check, or credit or debit card at the Pittsylvania County Courthouse (11 Bank Street Chatham, VA 24531) or one of several area banking institutions—all American National Bank & Trust and First Citizens Bank locations in Danville and Pittsylvania County, as well as the main and Vista branches of First National Bank of Altavista.
The solid waste fee is an annual bill of $120 that supports the operations of the county-run landfill in Dry Fork and the many convenience centers spread throughout Pittsylvania County. The personal property tax rate is $9 per every $100 of assessed value while the Pittsylvania County real estate rate is $0.62 per every $100 in assessed value.
All of these bills are split into multiple payments, which come due in December and June.
