At approximately 9:02 a.m. yesterday morning, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call that an individual had been stabbed at 1919 Sunset Drive in Bassett.

Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located a male victim at the residence with what appeared to be a stab wound to his torso.

The victim was identified as Graylin Elroy Callaway, 64, of 1919 Sunset Drive in Bassett.

Mr. Callaway was airlifted to Roanoke, where he is being treated for a stab wound.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a verbal altercation occurred between Graylin Callaway and Conis Callaway.

The altercation culminated in Conis Callaway producing a knife and stabbing his brother, Graylin Callaway.

Conis Lamonte Callaway, 56, of 971 Sunset Drive in Bassett, has been charged with one count of Malicious Wounding in reference to this incident.

Conis Callaway is currently being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.

The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime.  The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
