Byron Frank Blair, Sr.

Lovingly surrounded by much of his family, Byron Frank Blair, Sr. passed away on March 14, 2023, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1937 in Danville, Virginia. He was a son of the late Frank Craddock Blair and Carrie Custer Blair.

In addition to his parents, Byron was preceded in death by his sister, Maridena Blair Hicks.

Most of Byron’s life was spent on the family farm in the Renan community of Pittsylvania County. He loved farming, hunting, and fishing but most of his happiness was found spending time with family and friends.

Byron was a member of Straightstone Baptist Church, a charter member and lifetime member of the Renan Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as a past president of The Renan Young Farmers Club.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary Morgan Blair of 64 years, Byron was blessed with three daughters and one son; Kimberly B. Reynolds (Tim), Karen “Cookie” Blair-Mitchell (Brent), Katherine B. Hostetler (Steve), and Byron “Ron” F. Blair, Jr. (Kalan).

Byron had eight grandsons; Matthew Blair Reynolds (Stacy), Benjamin Morgan Reynolds (Jenny), Joshua Blair Dalton (Tiffany), Jonathan David Hostetler (Sophia), Traeven Tann (Aryn), William Byron Hostetler, Byron Michael Blair, and Jacob Timothy Blair. He had one great grandson, Easton Blair Reynolds. The arrival of a great granddaughter is expected this summer.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023 at Straightstone Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin and Pastor Jim Fox. Byron will be laid to rest at Green Hill Cemetery in Altavista, Virginia.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
