Tunstall (14-1) defeated Mecklenburg County at home 73-30 on Tuesday, Jan. 10. In the visiting team's first visit to Tunstall as the newest member of the Piedmont District, Jamarcus Brown had a 19 point and 12 rebound performance.

Tunstall had three additional players in double digits in the scoring column: Bricen Poole 11 points and eight rebounds, Raymond Ladd 10 points, and Kobe Morrison with 10 points and five rebounds.

Jailyn Edmunds led Tunstall's guard centered offense with eight points, nine assists, five steals,  and four rebounds.

On Friday, Tunstall faced the Martinsville Bulldogs for the first time on their home court. The Trojans defeated the Bulldogs 69-38. When a fight broke out in the stands behind the Martinsville bench with 1:47 left to play, the game was called by the officials.

Despite only a little over two quarters of play, Brown led the team with 15 points and nine rebounds. Edmunds followed with all-around solid game with 11 points, six rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Kobe Morrison had 8 points and six rebounds. Bricen Poole 8 points and six rebounds. Raymond Ladd 8 points and 6 rebounds.  

Tunstall will be on the road twice this week, traveling on Tuesday, Jan. 17 to Halifax and Friday, Jan. 20 to Bassett.


On Jan. 7 the Trojans traveled to Cave Spring High School and competed in the Knights of the Round Table tournament. Tunstall had five 2nd place finishes from Chloe Simmons, Silvester Perkins, Trenton Coleman, Ryan Jones, and Trey Collins.

The Trojans also had two 3rd place finishes from Lucas Moore and Elijah Ingram and one 4th place finish from Terrance Inge.

Tunstall was undefeated in a quad meet against Mecklenburg County, Martinsville, and Halifax on January 11. Going undefeated individually were Silvester Perkins, Trenton Coleman, Terrance Inge, Ryan Jones, Trey Duncan, Xavion Jaimes, Cameron Hill, Ryan Stuart, Elijah Ingram.

The Trojans will host senior night for the final home match of the year on Wednesday, January 18.

Girls' basketball

Last week the JV Lady Trojans were defeated at Mecklenburg County in a game that went down to wire losing 31-30. Trojans were paced in scoring by Harper Lovelace, Tra’nyce Strange, Carolina Wheeler and Summer Flores.

The varsity Trojans were defeated by the Phoenixes in district play. Natalie Mack, Kyndal Burke and Katie Tuck led the Trojans. Later in the week, the varsity Lady Trojans were also defeated by the Martinsville Bulldogs also in district play. Leaders for the Trojans were Burke, Kliyah Fulp and Brooklyn Brooks.

The Lady Trojans will host Bassett at home on Friday, Jan. 20.
