Dan River opened the game on a 24-0 run as they kicked off 2022 with a 47-22 victory over Appomattox County Jan. 7 in Ringgold.

All seven players scored for the Wildcats, with Lee-Lee Farmer pacing them with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists. Allye Wells scored 9 points (all on three pointers) and Jasmyn Noble added 8 points. Jade Marable chipped in 6 points,  India Edmunds and Emily Saunders each had 4, and Q'Lexus Stork scored 2.

The Wildcats (3-3, 1-0 Dogwood) played Tunstall Jan. 10 and Gretna Jan. 11 before hosting William Campbell on Friday.

Boys Basketball

Due to quarantine issues, the Dan River Wildcats entered the contest at Appomattox County Jan. 7 with just six players dressed out. Dan River hung tough for the first half and led 24-23 at halftime. However, the Raiders would come back and take down the Wildcats 62-47.

Darius Dickerson led the Wildcats with 17 points while Dorian Griffith added in 11. Shamar Ferguson chipped in 8 points, Ryan Brandon and Christopher Martin each had 4, and Peyton Young had 3. 

Dan River was back at full strength this week as they hosted Tunstall and Gretna on Monday and Tuesday. The Wildcats suffered a heavy loss to Tunstall, 24-89 but turned that around the next night to defeat Gretna 55-45.

They will end their week at William Campbell on Friday.
