Lee is a former Dan River distance running standout.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Former Dan River High School runner Cameron Lee had an impressive debut as he competed in his first half marathon.

Lee is a senior at the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he excels on the Golden Eagles' cross country and track and field teams.

Lee competed in the 2020 Parkway Subaru Battleship Half Marathon Nov. 8 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Battleship Half Marathon began in 1998 and is one of the oldest half marathons in the South.

After racing two loops through Historical Wilmington, Lee crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 1:14.14.

He averaged a 5:40 mile pace over the 13.1-mile course.

Cameron's time allowed him to finish second out of 204 male runners and runner-up out of 421 runners overall.
