Trojans pose with the district championship trophy.

BASSETT, Va. — The Tunstall Trojans traveled to Bassett High School on June 3 for the district championship.

The district teams were skeptical about running the meet due to rain in the forecast and clouds covering the sky. When the Trojans stepped off the bus they were on a mission and it was obvious from the beginning.

The Trojans started the first running event with a first place finish in thrilling fashion. As the day went on, the Trojans began to soar throughout various events earning seven first place finishes and plenty of other high place finishes. This would give the Trojans more than enough points to become the 2021 Piedmont District champions.

The Trojans scored a meet high 170 points giving them a margin of victory of 49 points.

Tunstall then traveled to Christiansburg High School on June 9 for the regional track meet.
