Dan River finished second overall in the girls’ cross country race at William Campbell on Wednesday.

The Wildcats would split the top six spots in the race with Galileo, who swept the boys’ and girls’ team scores. Caroline Woods took first place, with Carol Anne Garrett and Christy Zakhary taking third and fourth for the Falcons.

The Wildcats were led by Kathryn Saunders (second), Jordan Vogltanz (fifth) and Emily Saunders (sixth). Teammates Alyssa McFalls (14th) and Rebekah Dalton (17th).

In the boys’ race, freshman Asa Fletcher continues to have a stellar first year as he placed fourth over, not that far behind the Falcons’ trio of Alex Hernandez, Walter Thompson and Buford Herndon.  Michael Groom finished ninth, while Jonathan Adkins (27th) and Ben Dodson (31st) ran solid races.

Dan River will host a race on March 31 at Ringgold Rail Trail at 5 p.m.
